Closure

Is closure just a myth? A myth created by well-meaning friends who want to see us put a lid on our pain.
To see us not dissolve in tears at the mention of your name…
To see us once again living carefree lives without the knowledge of the reality of death…
Can it be done?
At some point I began to remember the wonders of you, fondly grinning at your more human moments, remembering and quoting your favorite things to say, or see, or taste, or hear.
The stab of the reality of your absence somehow dulled by having you EVER in my life.
Recalling memories once forgotten, soothing my broken heart not ripping it even more.
The beauty of hearing your name, even if attached to another person, music to my hungry ears.
Not a stop to the pain, not forgetting, nor failing to remember, but finding peace in your memory, joy in the life you had, the unique person you were.
Is this closure?
If it is, I embrace it with all my heart as I remember, grieve and rejoice that you were You and You were mine.
